Annual Giving

Annual Giving is the program of voluntary giving that enables Parkmont to make up the difference between what it collects in tuition and fees, and what it spends yearly on educating students. Parkmont does much more than welcome monetary contributions from its parents and alumni; the school depends on parents, alumni, and friends to contribute as generously as they can to our Annual Giving program. Current students benefit from the funds raised, which go towards the enhancement of programs, facilities at the school, student programs, financial aid programs and faculty advancement.

Our Annual Giving goal in 2007-08 is to raise $60,000.00.

Annual Giving FAQs:

Q. Why does Parkmont have an Annual Giving campaign?
A. Our Annual Giving Campaign helps support our operating budget--teachers' salaries, text books, financial aid, educational field trips, our building, and many other worthwhile elements of our program.

Q. What does it support?
A. The campaign is launched in the Fall each year. Letters go out to current and former parents, alumni, friends, and Board members announcing the date of a special phon-a-thon during which current parents and others are personally solicited for a gift. The letter contains a "giving envelope" in which a donation can be enclosed and/or a pledge made. You may also print out the Parkmont School Giving form on which you can fill in the information on your gift and/or pledge to the Annual Giving Campaign. We currently do not have a secure means of making your contribution online.

Q. How can I make a gift to the Parkmont Annual Giving Campaign?
A. A gift to Annual Giving can be made with a single payment or a pledge broken down into a few payments. If you wish to make a multi-payment pledge, Parkmont can set up a schedule of payment reminders for you. If you would like to make a contribution, please send a check (we also accept Visa and Mastercard payments), payable to "Parkmont School" to:

Q. Does my gift make a difference, even if I can only afford a small gift?
A. Every gift counts; regardless of the size of your gift, your participation in Annual Giving is critical. Every gift made has an impact, and by contributing to the Annual Giving, you will help the school to meet its goals. Gifts of all sizes also attract additional donations from foundations, which are particularly interested in the percentage of parants giving regardless of the gift amount.

Q: May I give for a specific purpose?
A: Yes. Annual Giving seeks unrestricted funds primarily, so we can use contributions where they are most urgently needed. However, if you have a special interest, we will be happy to help you direct your gift towards a particular area of need.

Q. Why are unrestricted gifts important?
A. Unrestricted gifts support all aspects of the student experience. These gifts also provide the school with a flexible source of capital that can be used to initiate and implement programs and services immediately.

Q. Is my gift tax-deductible?
A. Yes, gifts to Annual Giving are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. You must claim a gift as an itemized deduction on your tax return. You will receive a printed receipt for your gift.

Q. I have more questions about giving - whom do I contact?
A. Please contact Christy Ross at 202.726.0740, ext. 210
