“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to do internships because they have been a good experience for me as I have actually been able to work in real workplaces. From interning at various places I have gained knowledge, and through letters of recommendation from supervisors I was able to get my first paying job once the internship ended.”

Real World Learning

The Internship Program provides students with a learning experience that expands their view of the world, transforming the way they understand themselves and the environment around them. All Parkmont students participate in the Internship Program, which evolved out of the strength of thirteen years of experience in operating such a program in our Middle School.

We are proud to offer our students the opportunity to experience the world of work first hand, whether their path after Parkmont leads them to college or directly into the workplace. Middle School students spend two hours per week for two sessions in the spring at their Internship locations. Upper School students spend 180 hours per year at Internships, which can be spread over one or two placements. They are released from school mid-day each Wednesday and Friday to work at Internships for three hours each day. Students are not paid for the six Internship hours per week.

For more information about our Internship Program, contact Willa Reinhard at 202.726.0796 or reveiw relevant documents below.
